Every year in Louisville one of the most well known horse races, The Kentucky Derby, takes place. Leading up to the race the city has events which are apart of the Kentucky Derby Festival. On this assignment i was asked to photograph the start of the Marathon. With the event being so close to the date of the Boston Marathon Bombings, Patriotism was on high. The Courier asked us to look out for heightened security but there ended up being pretty normal security for the event.
